What Is Vertifirm?
Standing-up exercises.
Vertifirm stands for "vertical
firmness." It has revolutionized the fitness industry and made Jacki's the most
complete cardiovascular fitness, muscle-toning, and strengthening classes available.
Vertifirm has been incorporated into choreographed combinations to replace spot exercises
traditionally done on the floor. These "standing-up floor exercises"
provide the benefits of floorwork, but because you are on your feet, it is possible to
work on more than one muscle group at a time. Most floor exercises waste time by
working muscle groups one at a time. Jacki takes these exercises off the floor and
adds upper-body resistance training using optional hand-held weights. In addition, ankle weights
may be used to extend the resistance training to lower body moves. (Ankle weights
are not used in StrongStep
because the step provides enhanced lower-body resistance.) If you've never used
weights before, you'll be surprised at how enjoyable, challenging, and rewarding they can
be.
Abdominal
floorwork. A lean, flat stomach requires strong abdominal
muscles and the elimination of abdominal fat. It is not possible to effectively
strengthen the "abs" without lying down and working against gravity. So,
each class has a concise abdominal routine before we stand up and Vertifirm. The
aerobic segment of class attacks abdominal and other excess fat by working out in your
"fat-burning" or working heart rate
range.
More fun! Vertifirm extends resistance training limits and burns
more calories than traditional floorwork. Best of all, it's lots more fun than
floorwork!
